Welcome to Deer CreeK Trap Range

Welcome to Deer Creek Trap's Website. This trap range is located in North West Alabama 6 miles from Red Bay and 20 from Russellville. The range is owned by Dr. Eugenio (Gino) Bortone. Dr. Bortone is a certified ATA Trap Coach and recently completed the training to become National Coach Development Staff for the NRA.

Deer Creek Welcomes everyone and in particular young shooters. We are very fortunate to have two "Top Gun" Coaches: Mr. James King and Don Ross bring talent to the field and pation to teach kids the great sport of Trap. Our goal is to have top young shooters representing the State of Alabama in all major events including the Grand.

Our SCTP teams took the State Championship in Alabama on May 2007 and Senior Team Shooter Tritt Martin took 9 trophies at the Grand including HOA in Handicap after a 3 round shootoff.

Come on and bring your kids to Deer Creek Trap range and enjoy watching them learning this great sport.

How to get to Deer Creek Trap Range:

From Red Bay: Take highway 24 East for approximately 6 miles. Turn North on 23 CR (3 miles from intersection of 24 and 247). Continue to the Stop Sign and turn right. Deer Creek is located approximately 1/4 a mile on the left. You will see the trap House and lights from the road.

From Russellville: Take Highway 24 due West towards Red Bay. After Passing CR 16 (In front of Burn Out Church) turn right on the next road. This road is Hwy 124 also known as old 24. Deer Creek will be on the third gate on the right.

Dr. Eugenio (Gino) Bortone with son Emilio (7). Emilio is learning very quickly to shoot trap with a 28 guage. Deer Creek trap is dedicated to teaching young shooters the great sport of clay target shooting. I look forward for my son to be a Top Gun in Trap and hopefully in Olympic Trap (Fossa Olimpica, Bunker) like I once was.
